guacamole tostadas

avocado

so, i got this gigantic avocado the other day at talin world market. i had never seen an avocado that large in my life, and at $2.49 i had to try it! my friend from colombia saw it on my counter and said that’s how all avocadoes are there… so i’m not sure exactly… but anyway, it finally got ripe today! so i thought i’d do up some guacamole with it.

you have to make sure your avocadoes are ripe enough for guacamole, or else it won’t really mix or mush well together. so i took my ripe avo and i just cut it in half and scooped out the insides and threw it in a bowl. then i added lime juice (about 1 lime’s worth), diced jalapeno, chopped green onion, and some salsa (didn’t have any fresh tomatoes or i’d chop and add those instead). then, i added salt, garlic powder, pepper, cumin to taste and mixed it all together. the longer it sits, the better the flavor probably becomes… but i couldn’t wait.

so i just got a little oil in a small frying pan (just enough to cover the bottom), heated it up to a high heat, and fried some corn tortillas in it until they were just golden brown, and shook some salt on them. then i just piled on the guacamole for a tasty little tostada! mm. you could easily add other things in order to make it more of a meal.

  1. That avocado looks absolutely delectable. I haven’t had avocado in awhile.

  2. I was trying to prove to my sister that huge avocados really do exist by surfing for a pic on the internet. So, I sent her your pic…then I read your little blog and now my mouth is actually watering…
